Khushboo files for huge damages
February 16, 2006
The talented and multifaceted star Khushboo who started her career in films as a child artist,
then as a heroine, and now portraying character roles with great élan, is also popular in
several TV programmes also. Unfortunately, she has been in the midst of several
controversies. Last year, several cases were filed against her in several courts in Tamil Nadu
against her personal remarks made to India Today magazine on premarital sex. Then the
British magazine Maxim published her morphed picture wearing a two piece bikini in their
Indian edition. She objected to this intrusion on her privacy, and the publishers of the
magazine offered to print an apology in their next issue. The issue containing “her” morphed
photograph was seized from the police and withdrawn from circulation. Since then, the next
issue of Maxim has been released, and it does not contain the promised apology. So now
Khushboo has filed a legal notice to the publishers of Maxim asking for Rupees three crores
in damages for publishing her morphed image in a two piece bikini which has caused loss
of reputation and damage to her, and by which her image was lowered in society. The
publisher of Maxim has been given two weeks time to reply. The release of Khushboo’s June
R. was delayed last year because of the various protests and cases against her. Now that
June R. has been released, this new controversy has arisen; this time, she is filing a case
against the publisher. Let us hope that she comes out of this controversy and that this
negative publicity converts into more people going to see June R.!
